Privacy policy
What lives on your device
Your library — documents, notes, tags, highlights, study history, quiz results, and search indexes — is stored only in encrypted local storage on your phone. None of it is uploaded to any server.
What touches the cloud
AI features (Summarize, Explain, AI Answer, Quiz Me) send relevant document text to Google Gemini via our backend proxy. The proxy does not store your documents — text passes through transiently for the duration of the request.
What you can control
- Mark any document as Private to exclude it from every cloud feature.
- Turn off Cloud AI entirely in Settings → Privacy. Search, library, and recommendations keep working offline.
- Delete a document and its text is removed from the device.
What Google Gemini does with your text
AI requests are processed by Google's Gemini API. On the free tier, Google may use submitted content to improve their models. If you're handling confidential information, mark those documents as Private. Google's policy: ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms
What we collect
We do not collect personal information. A random device ID is generated locally so the backend can enforce a daily AI quota per device — it is not linked to you, your account, or any identifier you share with anyone.
What we share
Nothing. We do not sell, share, or rent any data. The only third party your data interacts with is Google Gemini, and only the text you explicitly send through AI features.
Children
This app is not intended for users under 13. If a parent or guardian believes a child has used the app, they should contact us to discuss removal.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any change. Material changes will be highlighted in the app on the next launch.
